X-rays have become a useful piece of technology for dentists and dental assistants to become aware of oral health issues. X-rays use low levels of radiation to capture photographs of the interior of the gums and teeth, which can help dentists diagnose cavities, impacted teeth, cysts, bone loss, cancerous tumors, tooth decay, and so much more.

Diode Laser
We understand that nobody likes to hear the word surgery, which is why, with advanced technology, there are instances where laser surgery is recommended in comparison to traditional surgery. With advancements in dentistry, a newer piece of technology that has been created is the diode laser, commonly referred to as the soft-tissue laser. The diode laser is commonly used to cut or shape oral tissue, and to contour the gums in periodontal therapy, uncover nonerupted teeth, and remove stubborn tissue from the oral cavity.

In 2007, the dental industry made another advancement with a new piece of technology called the iTero Digital Scanner. This piece of technology takes highly accurate 3D scans of the mouth. The iTero digital scanner is commonly used to help dental professionals create accurate models for dental restorations, which include implants, crowns, or veneers. It is also commonly used by orthodontists to identify problems that may occur during an orthodontic treatment.

As time progresses, so does dentistry. The CariVu oral screening is a new approach to identifying cracks and tooth decay. When identifying cracks and tooth decay, it is common practice to use an X-ray to accurately find these conditions. However, the CariVu is a non-X-ray, compact, and portable device that allows a dentist to detect these conditions. It uses transillumination technology in the form of a smaller device, which is radiation-free for patients.

Air Filtration (Surgically Clean Air)
We understand that staying inside can cause the air to become dense. As more people filter through an area, as more people move through an indoor space, air quality can decline. Due to the constant change in temperature, a building may hold onto bacteria, mould, or illnesses. However, at Aldergrove Dental, we have an air filtration system, commonly known as Surgically Clean Air. This air-cleaning process uses a six-step filtration system to help remove harmful bacteria in the surrounding area. Our patients' health is of the utmost importance to us, which is why we have implemented this system in our office.
