  • Sedation Dentistry

Here at Aldergrove Dental, we understand that going to the dentist may cause anxiety or fear. This is why our team offers multiple options for sedation which may help calm nerves. While most patients think sedation is only used for surgery, oral sedation is quiet common for those suffering from dental anxiety.

    Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

This is a mild sedative which is delivered through the nose and given throughout an entire procedure. This type of sedative is known for helping reduce anxiety and pain, which ultimately makes a patient feel comfortable during their visit with few to no side effects.

    Oral Sedation

This is a type of sedation that tend to be for patients who have a fear of needles and is usually taken thirty minutes before your appointment. Oral sedation does not cause any sleepiness or drowsiness, but it may have a patient lack remembrance of pain, noises, or smells that happen during their procedure.

  • Invisalign

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry which specializes in the treatment of the jaw, face, and bite irregularities which are also called malocclusions. This type of therapy is typically provided by an orthodontist. However, with the advancements in dental technology, certain orthodontic procedures, like Invisalign, are able to be performed by a general or family dentist. Invisalign is a set of plastic aligners which are custom made for you. There are several trays made throughout the course of your treatment, allowing you to gain straighter teeth. The best part? Invisalign is removable and is available to patients of all ages.

  • Sealants

A sealant is a thin plastic coating that is applied in a couple of minutes to the surface of molars or deep grooves within teeth. Having these grooves can cause unwanted decay and pain because we are unable to reach them while cleaning at home. The sealant will help protect the deep grooves, preventing any decay or discomfort and create a sufficient surface to clean. Sealants are carefully applied onto the tooth through a special curing light which immediately hardens depending on the material used by the dental clinic. Sealants protect the teeth for an extended period; however, Dr. Soong should regularly check them to make sure there is no wear or chipping happening on the sealant.

  • Preventative Dentistry

There is a multitude of treatments which can be done at the dentist, and we want to help you understand what we offer clearly and effortlessly. As a first level of oral defense, we always recommend preventative treatments so oral health issues do not progress to restorations, orthodontics, or other more invasive procedures. We are here to help your better understand the state of your oral health and help you get the smile you deserve.

Good oral hygiene is more than just brushing the teeth; it is what is ingested and what is used to take care of the teeth. If these elements are not watched closely, it can cause dental diseases which can become more difficult to take care of. To prevent dental disease, we need to watch what we ingest, but also get regular cleanings and exams done with x-rays to ensure teeth are in their best condition.

  • Root Canal Therapy

This treatment may sound nerve-wracking to patients who do not understand what it is, but a root canal treatment is to save a tooth from possible infection or removal. A root canal treatment may become necessary when bacteria needs to be removed from the inside of a dying tooth.

  • Composite Fillings

A composite filling is a dental procedure that repairs a tooth which may have been affected by cracks, decay, or fractures. During this repair, Dr. Soong will remove a portion of your tooth and fill it with a mixture of plastic and glass. A composite filling is a simple and effective way to enhance your smile and bring back the confidence that may have disappeared due to discolouration. Typically, a composite filling needs to be done when:

    •     A chipped tooth
    •     Wanting to close a gap between teeth
    •     Fractured teeth
    •     Decay
    •     Worn-down teeth

    •     Stained teeth which cannot be fixed by whitening
    •     Chipped teeth
    •     Deformed teeth
    •     Gaps

Veneers are a popular way of fixing smiles, although costly, they will advance confidence and make it easy to smile.

  • Lumineers

Lumineers, like veneers, are a way to enhance your smile. However, Lumineers are designed to be thinner, so they can be easily placed over the top of your teeth and do not require any prep work. When getting Lumineers, there is not much work needing to be done, such as reshaping or enamel removal; they are less invasive and more durable. Emergency Dentistry

Do you need emergency dental care? This may be in the form of tooth pain, a traumatic event, bleeding, swelling, or injury to the gums. If this occurs, it is crucial to know what to do about it.

A dental emergency could consist of tooth pain, which would require you to visit our office. Whether it is minor, or severe pain, it is crucial to visit our office to define the root of the pain. Tooth pain may be a result of tooth decay, which could result in infection to the surrounding teeth. However, it is important to visit the dentist when suffering from tooth pain because if prolonged, you may need root canal treatment. There are also instances when a tooth may become knocked out for various reasons. It is important to know what to do if a tooth becomes knocked out. If a tooth becomes knocked out, the first step is to clean it off with water and place it back into the socket gently without touching the root of the tooth. Gently hold the tooth in its socket while waiting to get to the dentist. A traumatic injury to the tooth requires immediate action to ensure there is not long-term damage.
